Detective Noir Meets Occult Horror: The Return of Bixby Grant

RNM Press has announced the Kickstarter campaign for series writer and creator Patrick Coyle’s Bixby Grant: Fangs & Brimstone #4. The celebrated supernatural noir series blends hardboiled detective fiction, occult horror, and monster politics into a sharp, character-driven mystery.

Publisher Synopsis:

“The clock is ticking in Harbor City: if there is a fifth ritual killing committed by the sinister cult started by Bixby Grant’s brother Max, a hellmouth will open and bring about hell on earth.

To find the ancient dagger needed for this killing, Bix has chased a ghost, had his arm ripped off, thrown a cat-burglar off a building, shaken down mystics, been brain-probed by a nine-year-old witch, and is now in the clutches of the mysterious society of monsters known as The Council Macabre.

With the help of Diego, the rockabilly vampire, Bix discovers the identity of the killer who has picked up where his long-lost brother left off in a secret lair beneath the streets of Harbor City.”

The All-Star Creative Lineup: From Marvel to Independent Gems

Pencils and inks were drawn by Chilean artist Gonzalo Martínez (Road Story, The Quique Hache Detective), colorist Arthur Hesli (Thunderbolts, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), and editor Heather Antos, with cover art by Declan Shalvey (Immortal Hulk, Thundercats) and Elsa Charretier (Harley Quinn, Star Wars), and Letters by Coyle.

“Bixby Grant is a story that should not work but manages to succeed in glorious fashion. A perfect blend of horror and comedy in one can’t-miss series!” —Scott Snyder, Absolute Batman

Independent creators are currently dominating the supernatural genre with unique, genre-bending tales. Zombietown & The Council Macabre: Expanding the Harbor City Lore

Issue #4 also continues the eight-page backup Zombietown, featuring art by Argentinian artist Gonzalo Ruggieri (Rumble, Convert, Two Moons). The story follows Detective Maritza Ramirez deep into the “undead-controlled quarantine zone known as Z-Town, where her search for the truth behind her father’s disappearance puts her face-to-face with Il Cosa Muerte, the zombie mafia!”

Crowdfunding Success: Why Bixby Grant is a “Must-Fund” Series

Even an immortal mummy can run out of time! Patrick Coyle sees Issue #4 as the moment Bix can no longer outrun his past:

“Bix is a member of the Silent Generation, which means he doesn’t talk about his feelings. Ever.  Pain and trauma are locked away and ignored. But in Issue 4 of Fangs & Brimstone, Bix’s worst fears are realized – he uncovers proof that someone has taken up the mantle of his long-lost brother Max’s cult, and they plan to unleash Hell on Earth. If Bix can’t face and move past his one-hundred-year-old issues with Max, then humanity is doomed!”

The struggle to contain hellish forces is a common thread among the most anticipated releases of the year. From the high-octane sibling rivalry in Netflix’s Devil May Cry Season 2 Trailer: Dante & Vergil Premiere May 2026 to the bounty hunter dynamics in Heathens Pilot Review: Studio Psycho’s Demon Bounty Hunters, the war against the underworld has never been more stylish.

Bixby Grant is pulp fanfare with a twist of supernatural noir stories with a genre twist! Dedicated to fans of Hellboy, The Spirit, Batman: The Animated Series, The Goon, Gotham Central, and B.P.R.D.

Bixby Grant: Fangs & Brimstone is a six-issue follow-up to the successful graphic novel Bixby Grant, Private Eye: Wolf, She Cried. The inaugural tale debuted on Kickstarter in October 2022 to great success, fully funding in just 12 hours and ultimately reaching 257% of its original goal.

The Kickstarter campaign for Bixby Grant: Fangs & Brimstone #4 invites new readers and longtime supporters alike to back the next chapter of this creator-owned supernatural mystery. Backers can acquire exclusive covers and rewards, and join Bixby on his latest case before the hellmouth opens.
