Cruelty without Merit – Mugen no Juunin Immortal Ep 7 Review

This is a review of Blade of the Immortal or Mugen no Juunin episode seven.

Check out last week’s episode six review here.

Okay so this week we got the Mugai-ryu, the antithesis to the Itto-ryu. I’ve got to say by all of the pointless brutality they’ve displayed since being on screen, I don’t really care for them. I didn’t like that they murdered Ren. Now her mother will die faster, she’ll never get to see Tai again, or move into a home with someone she loves.

Why did I think she would get a happy ending? Seriously, in this series, why did I think it would end well for her?

Sigh.

I guess I really played the fool on that one, huh?

The Mugai-ryu’s goal seems to be to neutralize Kagehisa Anotsu and his associates. As you now know, I have become Kagehisa’s biggest fan – so I can’t have them hurting our young master. Jokes aside, I seriously don’t like this rival faction.

The Itto-ryu are screwed up, but I can get behind the ideology it was founded on – no matter its oddity. The Mugai-ryu literally just want to one-up this infamous organization and take their spot on the totem pole. Or restore order to the old status quo….while most likely placing themselves at the top.

And then to end the episode with a bang, Shira kills the dog!

Seriously, what is wrong with these people? Where is Manji? Are all swordsmen absolute psychopaths?

My gosh. Now I’m pissed off again. This show really brings it out of me. The dog wasn’t the trigger, but the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Ren didn't deserve her fate. Blade of the Immortal episode seven.
Ren didn’t deserve her fate. Blade of the Immortal episode seven.

Seriously, a faction that is cruel just for the sake of being cruel. I’m not with that.

See you all next week for episode eight.
