It’s Too Late to Apologize – Shingeki no Kyojin Ch 134 Review

This is a review of the Shingeki no Kyojin monthly manga, Chapter 134: In the Depths of Despair.

My alternative post title for this chapter would be ‘Eren plays baseball in Marley’.

But, ♫ it’s too late to apologize ♫ is just too melodramatic to pass up.

Check out my review of SnK Chapter 133 here.

Alright, I’ve got to be honest here and I’m not going to even apologize if I seem harsh: I don’t give a damn about the people of Marley dying.

I don’t give a damn about the rest of the world dying.

I don’t really give a damn about The Alliance of Good dying at this point, because they are stuck on stupid and going headfirst into military operations without intelligence or strategy.

I don’t give a damn about that baby crowd surfing as the cowards too afraid to pay for their sins committed suicide by literally jumping off a cliff.

I just don’t care.

So what, the baby has a right to live?

But if it were born an Eldian it could be sent overseas and turned into a titan for the nation of Marley’s sake? If it were born an Eldian, it would be a hostage of the Marleyan government and strategically used to control the population and incite fear of rebellion into the Eldians and make them docile.

Is this okay with you, reader?

Do we need any more indoctrinated child soldiers like Gabi Braun running around murdering people without even having a chance to form a self-identity first? Gabi is a product of the Nation of Marley.

If Falco constantly didn’t have his brother Colt trying to protect him, along with other adults, he may have turned out the same.

Zeke Yeager, an Eldian who grew up on the mainland and sympathized with his Marleyan captors (because let’s be real – the Eldians around the globe were prisoners of war at this point) so much that he wanted to die.

Zeke Yeager, after an incident in his childhood where he was made to feel like he shouldn’t exist, wanted to erase his people. He wanted to forcefully sterilize all of them to appease the rest of the world.

At the core of that though, Zeke didn’t want another Eldian child to feel the pain he felt. To be told that you are not worth living in this world, despite being born into it.

So by some reader’s logic, that is okay.

But this one baby in front of titans – whose parents were complicit in Eldian oppression and whose mother would rather die and leave the baby to fend for itself – is nobler and should be protected?

Get out of here.

How selfish do you have to be?

“Think of the children”

Which children? The children you haven’t deemed monsters and devils that deserve to die?

Kaya Blouse never did anything to Marley. Is that why her mom was eaten by a titan right in front of her? Is that why her older sister Sasha died? Murdered by a child soldier who thought she was a demon who it was ‘natural’ to kill?

Kaya Blouse asks Gabi and Falco why her mother had to die. Shingeki no Kyojin Manga Chapter 109

Is that why Connie’s mom was turned into a titan? Because Connie Springer is an evil island devil who deserved to be extinguished?

Is that why he can’t go home anymore?

Did he ever get to make his village proud…that being the reason he joined the military?

C’mon, people.

And then that speech about ‘doing better’ and erasing the world’s hatred and ushering in an era of peace – after calling Eren a monster of their own making – and then declaring they will use those airships to defeat the monster, was bullshit.

The Marleyans have shown time and time again that they don’t care.

The Eldians living in internment camps all over the world has shown they don’t care.

The Global Allied Forces teamed up and planned to exterminate the Eldians on Paradis Island – who literally just got their memories back of the outside world.

They didn’t even know they were at war with the rest of the world.

How is one right, but the other is wrong?

How is Eren formatting and using the Beast Titan with the War Hammer Titan’s powers against the airships wrong, but it was okay for Zeke to slaughter the survey corps during the Retake of Shiganshina/Battle for Wall Maria and Erwin Smith’s Suicide charge?

Were these teenagers also evil island devils who needed to be exterminated? Were they not once innocent children as well?

Using the enemy’s own tactics against them? Genius.

Poetry.

Another monster of their creation. A beast, even.

Eren Yeager is still playing 12D chess while Marley plays checkers.

The Alliance of Good Eldians is over in the corner playing connect four blindfolded and gagged.

I mean, seriously – does it make any logical sense for The Alliance of Good to just jump in, see Zeke’s titan on top of Eren’s changed form, not notice the dangly bits despite being at the founder’s transformation on Paradis, and just attack it without a plan?

C’mon Commander Armin, you can do better than that. Are you even trying? Where are your observational skills? Weren’t you always good at that?

Is this why Falco had to fly, to give you even a fraction of the illusion that you could win?

Is everyone so blinded by emotion that they can’t properly assess the situation?

Did Eren plant the Beast Titan’s memories inside Falco for it to come to this conclusion? I mean damn, it’s pathetic at this point. How are people still rooting for Eren’s little friends?

Either way, I’m still with Eren.

Screw them all.

This is the end of the chapter review, haha.

But, tell me your thoughts?

Why is Attack on Titan popular around the world? What do you think would have happened if Global Allied Forces reached Paradis? Who is the father of Historia’s baby?

I write in my personal time and I haven't published much at all. I don't know if that qualifies me as a writer or not, but I'd like to change that. I have a deep passion for travel, cinema and (mainly) East Asian things, but I plan on writing various things to keep it spicy. Let's prosper together ~ よろしくおねがいします。

  1. I’m with Eren as well. I am hoping and praying that we don’t get a shitty Code Geass ending where Eren is defeated for “world peace” or for Armin to start blabbering on like an idiot and then for Marley to say ‘Ok! We apologise, let’s have world peace” and the series ends.
Oh, and Eren is the father of Historia’s baby. Not farmer-kun, or whoever the hell Alliance stans on Twitter are saying.
