They could not have ended this on a better cliffhanger!
(Although, I was secretly hoping they would go just a few minutes longer to reintroduce a certain character…)
So full disclosure, as I mentioned to you all weeks ago, I began reading the manga. I initially started reading towards The Black Dragon Arc that will be covered in season two, and wanted the rest of the current adaptation to be a surprise.
After last week’s episode, I got way too anxious and read what happened in-between the current arc and the next.
I almost wish I hadn’t – because the whole entire time I was aggressively watching the video player timer waiting for the reintroduction of a certain character.
Either way, the adaptation was fantastic!
I especially loved the little touch of interdimensional, endless stairways and doorway paintings that framed around Kisaki while the credits rolled. I wasn’t able to get a clear shot – but those paintings will almost certainly become spoilers next season.

(Along with Kisaki’s infamous “my hero” line while crying before shooting Takemichi.)
Man, I need to finish reading the manga. Maybe I’ll talk about it as a whole over here on the blog.
It’s so strange seeing how this future turned out for Takemitchy.
I know it looks great for him now, but this is literally one of the worst futures for Hanagaki Takemichi.
Mikey and Draken are also dead and/or missing in this future, meaning the head and heart behind Toman is nonexistent. With Hanma, (Valhalla), and Kisaki involved, the Tokyo Manji Gang will still be ruthless in the future.
Meaning…Hina is still going to die.
Now for who will be at fault for her death, I’ll leave that a mystery…
(I don’t think that’s a spoiler given the cliffhanger the finale ended on.)
The only real difference in this future is that now Takemitchy is in Toman’s top brass. But…his past self is fully complicit in the shady gang activity since Automichi never made any promises with Baji or Chifuyu before, or during Bloody Halloween.
Which is going to lead to a real shocker when Takemichi does reconcile with his “past” self’s actions next season…
His middle school friend group is still intact in this reality, and it seems they all have the battle scars to prove it.
Except Yamagishi, who decided to turn his body into a work of art with a chest yakuza tattoo. Or Takuya, with his fashionable leather choker to match his new hair.

There was this scene where Takemichi was frantically searching for Naoto’s number and despite already knowing what happens I still got a little annoyed. He will get better at this, but I wish Takemitchy would remember that the present completely changes when he comes back.
I know he was just with everybody as middle schoolers, but a lot can change in twelve years.
Other than that slight gripe – that’s pretty much it.
I never expected to enjoy Tokyo Revengers as much as I did.
I just thought the premise sounded interesting, and the character designs were pretty. Now, I’m moderately invested in another Shonen series – something I thought wasn’t possible after that debacle concerning Attack on Titan.
I’m grateful to have been able to watch this series every week and chat with you all – it’s been a lot of fun.
I would say more, but since I already read the manga, I know what happens and I don’t want to spoil anyone in this post.

How did you enjoy the past anime season in general? I know we’re moving into fall now – but TR was such a solid series it arguably carried the spring anime season on its back.
Are you excited for the fall anime season to start? I made a post about upcoming shows to watch if you’re interested.
And when do you think we might get season two of Tokyo Revengers? I’m guessing around 2022 – but maybe we’ll be surprised with something sooner?
Do you think they’ll change the animation studio from LIDENFILMS to another due to the series popularity?
Leave your thoughts in the comment section below, we’d love to hear from you! Also be sure to follow us for more Tokyo卍Revengers reviews and discussion in the future!

I haven’t watched the most recent episodes, and honestly I’m having a hard time keeping with this one. The last episode I watched I was thinking at the end, okay Takamichi I’m going to give you one more chance to stop messing up, but if you can’t manage that than I’m quitting this show. It’s good to hear that, by the sounds of it, the show does get better and Takamichi doesn’t mess up quite as much.

Yeah, Takemichi is pretty infuriating for the entire series. I can understand it being off putting while trying to watch the anime.

I do wish they had gone on a little longer…maybe extended the episode just a few minutes longer. Just to see that special character again…
