This Was Truly Intense – Ousama Ranking Ep 13 Review

As Hiling and Dorshe are attacked in the kingdom courtyard, they receive help from an unlikely ally. This is a review and discussion for Ousama Ranking Episode 13.

Check out our previous episode review here

Man, Bosse really let perverts like Ouken loose on the kingdom, its townsfolk, and most of all – Queen Hiling.

Also, how was a guy like Ouken, Commander of the Order of the Underworld?

Man oh man, I don’t even know where to begin with this episode.

It was from one emotional rollercoaster to the next watching these fight scenes. And the great thing about this anime is given everybody’s magic and abilities – you can’t really predict who died, and whose death is just make believe and pretend.

I really thought Queen Hiling was a goner.

The Underworld forces were moving so slow, and the castle was so far away with a winding road ahead…I was almost surprised when Apeas came to the rescue. I say almost because last week it seemed like Apeas wanted to deny being a traitor when questioned by Dorshe.

Given this week’s events, it’s safe to say that Apeas has a torn loyalty to Lady Miranjo.

I’m now wondering what Miranjo chose to seek in exchange for her body, if she is really using alchemy.

Is Miranjo the Root of All Evil in Bosse’s Kingdom?

It’s clear that Miranjo is indeed in love with Bosse (in the flashback we got she was pointing ahead to a threat, and he was looking out to the field while she was watching him with a smile) and wants to prolong his life…but for what reason?

Bosse clearly didn’t want to have another kid.

Alright, so this sequence of events from Episode 9 makes so much more sense. At Miranjo's behest, Bosse seeks Hiling out, proposes, and immediately appoints Dorshe as her keeper in anticipation of another murder attempt. From the Ousama Ranking anime

Based on circumstantial evidence and Dorshe’s comments about rumors surrounding her, it seems Miranjo orchestrated the First Queen’s death because giant women can only bear one child in their lifetime.

So Miranjo sought out Hiling – a woman from…(Kage’s old kingdom?) who can use light magic (that killed Kage’s mother) and has healing abilities that would enable her to bear a giant’s child.

But…why?

Why have ‘Daida’ the ‘replacement’ child?

Just to sustain Bosse’s life? When Bosse was perfectly content with atoning for the sin of robbing his firstborn of their innate abilities in life?

And then we had all of those phony townsfolk this episode saying:

“Look, it’s Prince Bojji!”

“Is he here to save us?”

Like…weren’t you just making fun of him, and calling Bojji an imbecile like a month ago storywise? Cheering even, when his crown was usurped by his younger brother?

That moment gave me some serious Naruto saves the Village Hidden in the Leaves from Pain flashbacks.

But rumination on what Despa told the head guard…why on earth would Bojji and Ouken’s methods clash?

When Hiling used the light attack, this loser Ouken simply ran away due to wounded pride. Only then to go down and torture helpless villagers to get the sexual release from cruelty he was denied with Hiling.

If Bojji uses pressure points and that doesn’t affect him…does Ouken even have a body?

What if it’s just a massive shadow underneath that armor who has no true form, thus wearing the suit of armor to hold it intact?

(Also before I forget, props to the animator and writers for making Hiling’s comically oversized armor make sense. Healing potions were a smart move – she really thought of everything, huh?)

But anyway, I think I’ll wrap it up here. So, tell me your thoughts.

Is Contralateral acupuncture or something along that line needed to defeat Ouken?

What is the true nature of Miranjo and Bosse’s deal?

And…

Why does Miranjo want Bosse to live a long and happy life? ☺

I write in my personal time and I haven't published much at all. I don't know if that qualifies me as a writer or not, but I'd like to change that. I have a deep passion for travel, cinema and (mainly) East Asian things, but I plan on writing various things to keep it spicy. Let's prosper together ~ よろしくおねがいします。
