Infidelity – Trolley Ep 13 & 14 Kdrama Recap

Yeo Jin shares her terrible secret with Woo Jae. Soo Bin and Hye Joo try to piece together what actually happened the night Nam Ji Hoon died.

Yeo Jin finally shares the secret she’s been hiding from Hye Ju. If I already wasn’t suspicious of Joong Do’s behavior and activities, I’m sure it would have shaken me to the core.

Yeo Jin’s Secret

Yeo Jin reveals the secret she has been hiding from (presumably) Hye Ju and everybody else: Joong Do raped her in his study the night before Ji Hoon’s middle school graduation. This is why Ji Hoon left home after middle school – because he couldn’t stand the depravity of his “upright” Assemblyman father.

It turns out as speculated, Soo Bin did know the layout of the home during the time Hye Ju gave her the tour, and it seems like maybe Soo Bin had a crush on Ji Hoon but in reality, he may have just been trying to help her escape JD.

After being confronted with the “affair” his father was having with Yeo Jin, Ji Hoon spoke to Soo Bin and told her he was going to “kill” JD. Which would explain why Ji Hoon went to find the meth JD is dealing, as maybe he was trying to expose JD’s crimes to put him in jail.

Ji Hoon’s elementary or middle school card at his gravesite said that when he grew up, he “wanted to be a good dad” and I still firmly believe he would have helped Soo Bin raise her baby if she kept it.

This would also explain JD’s behavior at spying on Soo Bin’s medical records on her phone, sending one of his girls to pretend to be her and record it for leverage against Assemblyman Kang’s people, and his mention that he would “kill” Nam Ji Hoon himself for getting Soo Bin pregnant if he wasn’t already dead.

JD’s flashback of Ji Hoon meeting with him and denying knowing where Soo Bin was lines up as well, since we saw that Soo Bin went to hide at Ji Hoon’s parent’s house. Ji Hoon also made a point to mention that Hye Ju grew up as an orphan, so she would understand Soo Bin and would not turn her away.

Which, we saw to be true of Hye Ju.

Hye Ju asked Soo Bin if she had been assaulted by Ji Hoon, asked her if she was alright after finding out about the miscarriage from her daughter Yoon Seo’s friend’s mom, and still believed Soo Bin’s words about her husband after they ran into each other and spoke in a back alleyway.

Although Hye Ju already knew Joong Do was lying about Ji Hoon’s assault on Soo Bin based on their earlier conversations, I have a feeling that Hye Ju would have believed Soo Bin anyway even if her husband had tried lying about his true intentions again.

What Happened the Night Nam Ji Hoon Died?

If you’ve been following my Trolley recaps, you’ll know that I fully believed Nam Joong Do had a hand in his son Ji Hoon’s death.

Now to what extent – I wasn’t completely sure.

Soo Bin has been the only character in Trolley who has consistently tried to uncover the truth surrounding Ji Hoon's death

However, we had an interesting development when Yeo Jin revealed her sexual assault by Joong Do to Woo Jae. Although I believe Woo Jae told Yeo Jin to “do nothing”, why on earth would Woo Jae suddenly start expressing doubts over leaving his job as a reporter to work on Assemblyman Nam’s campaign?

Why would Woo Jae ask Joong Do if there was anything else he needed to know regarding Soo Bin, only for Joong Do to reveal that he indeed did lie to Woo Jae about his affair with Yeo Jin?

Why would Woo Jae tell Joong Do not to go to the hospital, only to tail him there, record him, and confront him on the rooftop and then leak the evidence at the right time?

Why did Woo Jae specifically give Hye Ju her dashcam footage in a box with her belongings from the incident when Joong Do wrecked her car in front of Seung Hee’s home in Youngsan?

Why was Joong Do surprised that Woo Jae showed up at Grandma Jo’s home to convince her to support the bill?

Although Woo Jae openly says that he supports Joong Do fully and wants him to win by “any means necessary”, it seems Woo Jae still has the heart of a reporter and may flip on his boss.

Especially since Woo Jae has been eavesdropping and is visibly shaken by the growing shift in support by Assemblyman Nam’s aides, and since (privately) even Chairwoman Woo has turned ‘the Trolley’ on Assemblyman Nam’s one constitutional amendment in favor of 10 – 15 bills being passed by siding with Assemblyman Kang.

Either way, I’m super excited to see what happens next so I think I’ll end it here.

But, tell me your thoughts.

The Nam family photo is very important to the storyline it seems, as it marks a time period where Ji Hoon, Joong Do, and Yeo Jin all had a shift in their behavior and relationship dynamic

Why do you think Chairwoman Woo flipped on Assemblyman Nam?

Did Seung Hee decide to “expose” her truth too late?

Is Hye Ju going to turn the Trolley on husband Joong Do?
