A Sign of Affection should be renamed “mixed signs of affection” because I have no clue what the hell is actually going on anymore. Does Itsuomi really like Yuki, or not?

A Sign of Affection Episode 4 Review

Oh man, I have such mixed feelings after watching the next episode preview and hearing Kyouya’s words. I do think Itsuomi likes Yuki, but the mixed signals from both him and everybody around him are throwing me off.

I really don’t want to see Yuki get her feelings hurt, but I did love seeing Oushi get told off! 🙃

What is Itsuomi’s Dream?

So, what is Itsuomi’s dream and is it still that serious to him?

Kyouya pointed out to Rin that Itsuomi is a popular and good-looking guy who has broken a lot of hearts. He doesn’t quite understand what Itsuomi sees in Yuki, which is understandable since their friends and Itsuomi travels abroad a lot.

It’s almost like Itsuomi comes across as an experienced playboy but also has a very vulnerable side that he only shows to Yuki? Their conversation at the laundromat kind of clarified what exactly drew him to Yuki, and during their Costco date Itsuomi said he liked the passion he saw in Yuki’s eyes while signing during their first meeting on the train.

I don’t know what exactly happened with this Emma girl but they sure are alluding a lot to something painful in the not-so-distant past. Given Rin’s sad expression in the car with Kyouya during the episode preview I’m wondering if Kyouya finally told her the truth? Then there’s Shin’s obvious discomfort at watching Emma drink herself to death over Itsuomi…but nobody will say what actually happened.

Emma clearly tried to get Itsuomi drunk and sleep with him, and Itsuomi denied her advance and went to Kyouya’s place to spend the night. In the preview, it looks like Emma shows up yet again at Itsuomi’s place for a second round of rejection and Yuki gets uncomfortable and leaves because she thinks she’s intruding.

Usually people who travel like that at the drop of a dime are running away from something in their personal lives. Considering what Itsuomi has said to Yuki and the way he treats Emma, Itsuomi is the type to just disappear if something doesn’t work out and start over from there.

Although it is romantic, it is a little fast that Itsuomi invited Yuki over to his home and even mentioned they could travel abroad. I know they are both adults in college but I kept wondering while watching if he’s just trying to sleep with her like Oushi said, or if he just wants to spend time with her in a secluded place because it’s easier to communicate that way.

Either way, I’m excited for the next episode.

But, tell me your thoughts. Have you ever had so much fun hanging out with somebody that no matter where you were, the event felt special?
