Jentry Chau vs the Underworld
Created by Echo Wu, the new action-comedy animated series Jentry Chau vs the Underworld is now streaming on Netflix as of December 5th, 2024. The season will have 13 episodes in total, with a run time of 30 minutes each.
Wu told Tudum “Sometimes finding your self-identity is coming face-to-face with your own demons,” only the quote is more literal the figurative for Jentry’s story.
The animated series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Ali Wong) who is a Chinese-American teenager living in a small Texas town. Despite working her whole life to repress the supernatural powers she was born with, Jentry learns a demon king is hunting her for said powers. Aided in battle by her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old Chinese hopping vampire (or “Jiangshi”), Jentry must now fight an entire arsenal’s worth of the underworld’s monsters – while balancing the horrors of average high school life.
Wu continues adding intrigue to the story’s plot by questioning Jentry’s possible relationship change in how she views her supernatural powers: “…[She’s] trying to figure out what these powers mean to her. Are they part of her? Are they cursing her? You see this character trying to figure out who she is.”

Jentry Chau vs the Underworld Official Soundtrack
Mondo Music, in partnership with Netflix Music, have produced the Netflix Series 2xLP for the animated show. Brian H. Kim composed the animated series’ original score and songs, with features by KATSEYE, Jessi, eaJ, Yaeji and more.
