For over a decade, Netflix has been making adult animated series beloved by fans worldwide. Starting with the groundbreaking BoJack Horseman, the streaming platform has set a new bar for adult animated storytelling and paved the way for a string of varied genre series to flourish.

Matt Roller’s Haunted Hotel, which is set to premiere September 19th, is the latest animated comedy-horror show coming to the streaming giant’s platform.

Netflix’s Haunted Hotel Official Trailer Debut

“I can’t wait for everyone to meet the Freeling family and see how they tackle nightmare guests and ghosts in our beautifully animated hotel. This is a show for fans of comedy, horror, horror comedy, families, hotels, cults, monsters with tentacles, monsters without tentacles, werewolves, and blenders.” – series creator Matt Roller

The adult animated comedy series created by Matt Roller (Rick and Morty) follows the Freeling family as they inherit – and deal with – managing the Undervale, a haunted hotel. Roller will also serve as executive producer on the show alongside Chris McKenna, Harmon, and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes will serve as the supervising director.

Haunted Hotel was sold to Netflix by Roller during a highly competitive auction and was processed as a “straight-to-series” order. Roller’s previous work includes writing credits for Speechless, Community, Son of Zorn, Rick and Morty, and FX’s Archer. He recently served as a co-executive producer on Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Mr. Mayor, and two seasons of The Goldbergs.
