Draken on Death Row – Tokyo Revengers Ep 13 Review

A devious plot by antagonist Kisaki lands Draken on death row? This is a review and discussion for Episode thirteen of the Tokyo卍Revengers anime.

Check out our previous episode review here

Well, that was easy.

Takemitchy jumps back to the past and is basically just handed the 3rd Division Captain role.

So, uh…yay?

Why was Naoto so weary that he couldn’t do it?

Takemitchy has basically just been at the right place at the right time this whole entire series so far, anyways. If anybody could fall upward in the Toman gang ranks, it’s definitely him!

Haha.

Oh man, the tonal shift in this episode was insane.

We went from attending Hinata’s funeral and seeing Naoto break down to fun adolescent times with Mikey and Draken in the bathhouse. Speaking of which – it’s really something that Draken ended up on death row.

Based on what we saw…it seems like Kisaki set him up? And all to hurt Mikey

With Draken out of the way, both Hinata and Akkun were targeted to hurt Takemichi, which in turn would hurt Mikey? Do I have that right?

Kisaki is just the scum of the earth.

When Draken was leaving, his tattoo was finally shown again. Meaning, the old Draken isn't really gone - and he still wants to complete his mission of killing Kisaki. Tokyo Revengers Ep 13

I really liked that while Draken was talking to Takemichi and Naoto, the side of his head with the dragon tattoo wasn’t shown. In a way, it was almost like he wasn’t Draken anymore because he was locked up.

Draken was only invigorated once more while talking about getting his revenge on Kisaki.

It’s a shame about Akkun, though.

I was already upset, but it makes it worse that he had a family and was basically blackmailed into (almost) killing his old best friend. Then the car blows up before we can hear him say some new dialogue as opposed to the recycled depressing speech he gave in the last timeline.

Oh well. On to the next!

There are some really beautiful cityscape shots in Tokyo Revengers. The light hitting Draken like this gives off an eerie, but modern feeling. From Episode 13.

Do you think Naoto was underestimating the power our Shonen main character exerts on this series?

Why didn’t anybody else in the Toman organization take out Kisaki?

Will Takemitchy still have his job at the bookstore when he comes back?

I write in my personal time and I haven't published much at all. I don't know if that qualifies me as a writer or not, but I'd like to change that. I have a deep passion for travel, cinema and (mainly) East Asian things, but I plan on writing various things to keep it spicy. Let's prosper together ~ よろしくおねがいします。
