Whew that was absolutely bananas!
Who turned on the Shonen anime trope machine?
Hanma Black Air Force kicks Draken into infinity?
Draken punches Hanma into the shadow realm?
Mikey and Kazutora Naruto-run up a pile of abandoned junkyard cars before Mikey is kicked so hard, he transforms into his Invincible Shirtless form?
Honestly, the only thing remotely believable was Takemitchy flailing around like an idiot and unexpectedly giving a rousing speech that boosts Toman’s morale.
I’m also really glad he finally got some good punches in.

(Well, second believable thing was Kazutora spouting his ‘hero’ nonsense speech. I had no clue what he was talking about, and then it cuts to Takemichi saying what I’m thinking. Hanma’s commentary on the situation turned this entire fight into Pure Shonen Gold.)
When the episode started and Takemichi was looking for Baji, I was sure we’d get a repeat of the whole “I can’t find Draken so I’m going to continually shout his name in this small parking lot before falling over into a puddle and crying” thing we got earlier in the series.
I’m so glad I skipped reading the rest of this arc and the next one in the manga.
Just seeing the sheer ridiculousness of this episode was worth it.
Also…did Hanma get a pretty boy edit?

The animation was kind of hit or miss last week, and this week you can really tell where LIDENFILMS put the budget. Like, I’m actually positive a producer or somebody literally just said “earmark half of our budget for the Bloody Halloween brawl” because wow that was just epic.
And not for the reasons you think.
I honestly got such a good laugh out of this semi-serious time-travel story filled with tragedy and inner turmoil turning into a high-Shonen fantasy of middle school boys leaping from junkyard cars and judo-kicking each other into oblivion.
It was hilarious for all of the wrong reasons to me.

Also, I’m pretty sure Kazutora repeatedly hitting Mikey over the head with a lead pipe cracked his skull open, and gave him brain damage. That’s probably where The Darkness™ radiating from Mikey’s final form came from.
Either way, this episode was hilarious and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I think it’s because I just finished watching Save Me (a kdrama about escaping a religious cult that has engulfed a small rural town) and I didn’t sleep much because I was in a state of ongoing panic and anxiety over the series.
(The psychological thriller did an amazing job at actually keeping me on edge. Who knew?)
This really loosened me up.
Oh man, it’s 11 pm and by the time I upload this it’ll be past midnight, so I’m going to end this here.

Do you think the fights during the Bloody Halloween arc were a bit exaggerated?
Was Mitsuya right for reprimanding Takemichi?
Do you care about Kazutora’s sad backstory?
And…
Where the heck are Baji and Kisaki?
