I’m sorry but, I kind of don’t understand this episode.
I get where Baji was coming from with that sort of logic – “Kazutora didn’t kill me, I killed me” thing but…was that really necessary?
As I was watching that, I literally thought to myself “If I was Mikey, I’d be even more pissed that Baji ended up killing himself because of Kazutora” and then sure enough, Mikey tells Kazutora he’ll punch him to death and begins wailing on him.
To be completely honest…I don’t blame Mikey.
Mikey said that since Kazutora got out of juvie he wanted to kill him, but was continually held back and stopped by Baji. Now the one person who was stopping him was not only stabbed by Kazutora, but ended up killing himself in a last-ditch effort to protect Kazutora and stop Mikey? I’d still be pissed.
I know a lot of people don’t like sharing these sorts of thoughts on the internet, but honest to whatever you believe in – I would have done the same thing as Mikey if I were in that situation.
Which makes me truly believe that Baji died for nothing.

Maybe he felt guilty over the double agent thing, but technically Baji never betrayed Kazutora or Mikey.
He was there for Kazutora in the end, and snapped back Mikey with the omamori plot device Takemichi acquired a few episodes ago.
Also, it seems I was wrong about the omamori belonging to Mikey.
Baji seems to have been playing 12D chess and planted it in a place either Mikey or Takemitchy would see it. I say Takemitchy, because we’re already starting to get the Shinichiro – Takemichi parallels that will become more prevalent as the series goes on.
I wonder what the point of all of this was?

Baji was trusted by Mikey – it would have been better for he himself to tell Mikey about Kisaki, rather than leaving it to the delinquent wonder duo of Chifuyu and Takemitchy. And this isn’t even me throwing shots at either of them – I quite like both of them as characters.
But I just think Baji could have had such a stronger impact had he decided to stay alive.
Yes, the gesture of giving your life for your “treasures” is a romantic notion and all, but can’t somebody else steal your valuables if you are no longer around to protect them?
Someone like say….Kisaki?
Hanma?
Even Mikey? Haha. ☺
I mean, I don’t know.
I just feel like this could have gone a lot better.
After a certain point, there was literally nothing Takemitchy could do but watch it play out. I guess Takemitchy and Chifuyu somehow missing Baji being stabbed despite standing right there with great vantage points somehow changed the future?
By that, meaning Baji decided to kill himself instead of letting Kazutora kill him?
So in essence, Baji was always meant to be a sacrifice, but in this timeline Baji’s sacrifice wasn’t completely in vain?
I don’t know.
It’s just such a shame to see a young life go to waste. The kid was only 16 or 17. He had his whole life ahead of him, just to die in a dirty junkyard from a stab wound.
*sigh*
Tell me your thoughts on this one.

Was there anything else Takemitchy could have done to prevent Baji’s death?
How did nobody notice Kazutora, Hanma, and Kisaki all on their cellphones around the same time?
What is up with Mikey? Is this where he started becoming a lost cause?
