Older and Younger Brothers –Ousama Ranking Ep 11 Review

Just as Bojji and Kage venture home, multiple coup d’etat rise against the Kingdom of Bosse. This is a review and discussion for Ousama Ranking Episode 11.

Welp, it’s safe to say that Bosse’s Kingdom has officially gone to hell.

Not only do other kingdoms actively know about their little civil war, and the fighting between prince-brothers – now Queen Hilling rode head-first into an active coup which will initiate multiple attempts on her life.

And to make matters worse – 2nd Ranked Ugly King Desha decided to take advantage of the chaos and absorb Bosse’s Kingdom.

When I tell you I let out the biggest sigh after finishing this episode…I swear, I’m pretty sure I could move mountains with my exhaled disappointment.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not disappointed by where the plot is going, I’m disappointed because I like Queen Hiling and don’t want her to die.

I like Dorshe, and think he is a great shield.

I like Despa, and don’t want to dislike him because of the actions of his brother.

Judging by how Despa already knew about the escaped Underworld bandits, he most likely knows of his brother’s plan, as well. The two don’t get along, so maybe I can still hold out hope that Despa wasn’t in on this the entire time.

Even if Despa was, he still taught Bojji secret techniques. So maybe that’ll have to be the saving grace from the multiple coups happening in Bosse’s Kingdom.

Also, can you believe Bosse is the one who introduced his son to the damn mirror?

I swear, if that wasn’t some sort of 5D chess move or play by Bosse to preemptively end all of this strife in the future, he really is one of the worst dads in anime history.

Why on earth would you leave your son unsupervised with a mythical lady in a mirror who has shady intentions and can make active portals into the underworld?

Especially when you have all of that creepy stuff under your kingdom and the mirror mentioned she was waiting to use Daida’s body a few episodes back during the ritual?

Like really, Bosse? Really

C’mon.

I don’t even feel bad for Miranjo.

I don’t know if her “former self” is trapped in whatever realm Daida is in, but I don’t care.

I don’t care if Miranjo lost herself and her body in a freak accident, or if someone (or something else) is possessing her body and Bosse wants to save her.

I don’t even care if she never becomes a “princess” like she wants.

I don’t.

Who even put something like that in her head?

As far as we can tell, Bosse started all of this mess in his vain attempt to pursue power. One dead wife and two maimed sons later, he still is not the strongest in the world – the son he crippled, Bojji, is.

So, what was the point of all of this domestic strife then?

Every time we hear about a demonic pact in stories like this, it never ends well for the person who made the deal. It didn’t end well for Lord Daigo in Dororo, and it’s not going to end well for King Bosse the Giant, either.

My goodness, how dumb.

The only saving grace this episode was our confirmation that Domas is indeed, a talented swordsman but horrible teacher by Hokuro.

Domas only thinks about Domas – because obviously if you can’t lift a large boulder (while using a prosthetic arm) you are unworthy of closing the gates to the Underworld and are a weakling.

Sigh.

But, tell me your thoughts.

Do you think the Underworld Guards will follow their orders, or give Bojji and Kage a heads up of what’s going on.

Why did Queen Hiling, Dorshe, and her guard immediately return to the kingdom?

Who, or what, part of Miranjo do you think is locked away with Daida?

I write in my personal time and I haven't published much at all. I don't know if that qualifies me as a writer or not, but I'd like to change that. I have a deep passion for travel, cinema and (mainly) East Asian things, but I plan on writing various things to keep it spicy. Let's prosper together ~ よろしくおねがいします。
