Check out last week’s episode review.
Did anybody else feel like the animation was off this week?
I thought it was the video player at first, but turns out it may have just been wonky.
Anywho, lots to talk about in this episode review.
Ichinose the Spy
Let’s start off with Ichinose, and her role in Mars Group.

After the scene of the three teachers from Class D, C, and B, I believe, I am now wondering why Ichinose is in Mars group if she was supposed to be somewhere else as a class leader. The teachers from Class B and D seem to have some sort of history relating to an incident 10 years ago that one of them could not get over.
Ichinose being a spy in Mars Group to find out Ayanokoji’s relationship with Chabashira-sensei and his hidden capabilities makes a lot of sense in the long run – even if Ayanokoji initially did not want to attract attention to himself.
Kushida is the VIP?
Needless to say, Kushida is a shady character.
After the incident in season one where Kushida expressed a deep and concerning hatred bordering into an obsession of Horikita Suzune, threatened to accuse Ayanokoji of rape, and overall made situations very unsettling with her split personality – I am suspicious anytime she appears on screen.
It was even stranger seeing Kushida latch onto Ayanokoji that night when he was returning to his room on the boat deck, while the faint click of a door closing can be heard offscreen.
Given the resident Bully Lord of Class C Ryuen’s earlier proposal to Suzune regarding Classes B – D pooling resources and intel to figure out the VIPs and take Class A down, I feel like Kushida is somehow wrapped up in his scheme.

Especially since Hirata received an anonymous message claiming Kushida was a VIP…this whole situation just reeks of a setup in the making.
Why Did Kei Break Up with Hirata?
So, it turns out that Karuizawa Kei has been playing 12D chess this entire time.

While lurking around the ship after another failed Mars Group discussion, Ayanokoji overhears Kei breaking up with Hirata.
Apparently, Kei and Hirata had an agreement to pretend to date in order for Kei to be protected – and have her social status elevated within Class D. It hasn’t been fully discussed yet, but according to Hirata, Kei has been bullied mercilessly for the last nine years of her life.
Earlier in the episode, Ayanokoji seemed to be wondering why there was a change in Kei’s facade, as her usual aloof personality turned into someone who is meek and only looks at their phone. Then when we add in the Class C girls trying to bully Kei over her alleged shoving of their friend (…Rika, was it?) and Kei latching on to Class A’s Machida, we can start to notice an almost ‘parasitic’ pattern in her behavior.
Will Ayanokoji Use Kei?
Ayanokoji expressed the desire to learn more about Kei while speaking to Suzune, who then suggested that they bring her into the fold. Judging by Kei’s scene of crying in the shower alone, and crying while being bullied by Manabe and the Class C girls, it turns out Kei might just be a mentally fragile girl pretending to be strong.
As Kei is looking for another ‘cover boyfriend’ who will ‘protect her’, maybe Ayanokoji will exploit this weakness and protect Kei in exchange for learning more about Class D through her influence.
Either way, next episode should be very interesting! But, tell me your thoughts.

Why do you think Kei was bullied?
Does Ryuen have a scheme up his sleeve?
And…is Suzune being too harsh to Ayanokoji?
