So, somebody is targeting followers of the Evernight Goddess Nighthawk’s Church, and Havre just happens to lose control after following Lanevus’ fiancée who is carrying the demon spawn baby?

This reeks of high-level Beyonder shenanigans.

Lord of the Mysteries Episode 8 Review

Wow, okay so from my understanding of this episode, Klein basically asked Mr. Azik for a favor. That favor resulted in the “dock hauntings” where the Evernight Goddess Nighthawk officers put on a show for the crowd to perform a (fake) exorcism in public before completing the real one later on out of the public’s sight.

Klein devised this scheme to get alone with artefact #3-0782 again so that he could pray to the Eternal Blazing Sun deity to juice up his two prospective sun charms so that Klein would have better protection on the field.

Just then while preforming the ritual and incantations for the charm’s formation, anomalies began happening with the sun and Leonard immediately suspected Klein. Before he could act on his suspicions, Havre somehow lost control while following Megose and her demon baby who was “kicking” earlier?

Something weird was going on with Old Neil’s hand as well after saving a random civilian, but ultimately Old Neil had to put down his final comrade and unceremoniously add Havre’s flask alongside the other death mementos and things from the past in his mausoleum-like home?

Did I get that right? Was that the plot for this episode?

Did we really have Klein – who has been told about summoning (unknown gods) using different spells and warned to erect a spiritual barrier for protection again summoning a god he does not worship seeking power while forgetting to erect a spiritual barrier – causing something to tamper with his spell which everybody but Klein noticed while it was going on?

It seems like Havre was a petitioner to the Lord of Storms like The Hanged Man/Alger from the Tarot Club. I wonder how Alger knows so much about secret societies when it doesn’t seem like Havre – a much older man with seemingly higher rank – didn’t know anything that could have helped him avoid his fate.

I’m also now wondering if Klein’s divination showing an inverted pyramid means that it is something ancient that brought Mr. Azik back from the dead and haunts his very soul in each new life. Based on what we saw from his backstory, Azik Eggers being a Descendant of Death sounds about right.

Everything in that man’s life eventually decayed, and the restless spirits prior to the Fourth Epoch just kept haunting him. I guess Teno Egger’s skull holds some of his father’s residual “death” energy that was needed to complete the ritual to place the demonic spirit into Megose’s womb?

We’ve already witnessed The Secret Order, The Demoness Sect, The Aurora Order, and the Psychology Alchemists handiwork (during Megose’s ritual) so it seems like in a way, all of the ancient orders are working in tandem to bring about an unknown chaotic event.

The Moses Ascetic Order was mentioned and its relation to Old Neil (and the fact that The Hidden Sage god now presents evil) so I wonder what exactly they will do next? Either that order, or the Blood Sanctify Sect will probably make a move soon, otherwise I doubt they would have been informally introduced to us.

Either way, tell me your thoughts – do you think Old Neil will be the next Beyonder to lose control? How did Leonard know Klein was up to shenanigans with the Blazing Sun Emblem?
