A new adventure in the town of Hawkins, Indiana awaits in animated form for the original cast of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.
Stranger Things Day is celebrated on November 6th in commemoration of Will Byers’ disappearance during the year 1983 in Hawkins, Indiana. On this day, fans of the Stranger Things world had something positive to celebrate – new information about the animated series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 coming to Netflix in 2026!
New Animated Series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Debuts in 2026
The new Stranger Things animated series is set in the same universe as the show, taking place between seasons two and three with characters already familiar to the audience. Eric Robles serves as the showrunner, and executive producer with the co-creators of the TV series Matt and Ross Duffer.
In a departure from the first four seasons of the live-action television show, the animated series spin-off Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 will take place in the winter of 1985.
The idea for this new adventure was sparked by the Duffers after brainstorming creative avenues they would like to explore within the show and its universe. Robles was quoted by Netflix, stating the animated story will capture “the magic of Hawkins in a new way…get your flashlight, get your backpack because it’s going to be amazing.”
The premise states the established characters will be brought to life within the original animated story in order to explore fights with unique adversarial monsters, as the group tries to unravel the paranormal mysteries terrorizing their town of Hawkins.
The new series will be animated by Flying Bark Productions, The Duffers, and Hilary Leavitt will executive produce via Upside Down Pictures. With Shawn Levy producing via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen. While reflecting on the production’s development, the Duffers previously shared with Netflix’s Tudum “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with – the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues”.
The voice cast includes: Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Additional voice cast includes Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips.
In the meantime, while we wait for the animated show, Stranger Things Season 5 is set to debut on November 26th on Netflix, followed by three episodes on Christmas Day, concluding with the Series Finale on New Year’s Eve.
