The Eldians Who Came Before – Attack on Titan S3 Ep 20 Review

Through Grisha Yeager’s memories, we learn of the Restorationists and Eldian suffering in Marley. This is a recap and discussion for Attack on Titan S3 Ep 20.

So, given the next two episode revelations concerning PATHS and the connection between all Eldians, I have to wonder just how hard Ymir Fritz is pulling the strings.

Check out last week’s episode 19 review here.

Aside from various manga theories, synchronicities and odd connections in the series I have to personally wonder if the Eldians are in an eternal time loop.

Or rather, Paradis Island and those who live on the Marleyan continent.

If Grisha Yeager never left the walls that day to see the dirigible with Faye, she would arguable still be alive.

If Grisha then continued to take over his father’s practice at age eighteen and came across the patriot with the scar he would have never joined the Eldian Restorationists. After all, what would they bond over?

Maybe Grisha would have inherited his father’s meekness, and shunned the idea of revolution all together.

He would have never come across Eren Kruger, and Eren Kruger would have never revealed himself to the doctor because he never would have witnessed the hatred in the young boy’s eyes.

Grisha would have never married Dina Fritz, or had Zeke. Zeke was already playing with the Beast Titan toy as a child, which I’m sure somehow is related to PATHs. If Zeke never betrayed his family, he never would have met his brother Eren.

At Kruger’s prompt and Eren’s through PATHs, Grisha subconsciously took a family, sought out the Ackerman’s and brought his son Eren, Mikasa, and Armin together.

Dina Fritz vowed to find her husband before she was turned into a pure titan, and in the end did find his home – and killed his wife. If she never made that vow, would Carla still be alive today?

And if she survived, would Eren have wanted to join the military?

Would he still have the level of hatred he possessed after his mother’s death and the destruction of Shiganshina?

If he didn’t join the military, would he and his friends still be attacked by the Anime Eyes titan, or the Santa Claus titan who were Eren’s father’s comrades in a past life?

The Santa Claus Titan who tried to eat Armin and successfully ate Eren to trigger his titan awakening, was a former Eldian Restorationist. From Attack on Titan Season 1, Episode 5

Why did Ymir wake up in Ymir Fritz realm when she became a shifter?

If Christa and Ymir never met, would Christa have helped her friend group to take down her father?

Would Historia have been able to become Queen?

Why on earth did the coordinate (also known as Ymir Fritz…) show Eren how the coordinate was taken away from the royal family when he touched Historia at that ceremony?

“All invisible paths coordinate at the Founding Titan”. What is her endgame? Why leave her people to suffer for 2,000 years?

Did the 145th Fritz King see something from Ymir Fritz herself that changed his perspective on the war? Which in turn, let to the events above and even greater things to come?

It’s just the level of variables that seemed to have already been written that is intriguing to me. That Eren dreamt of his mother’s death in the first episode of the series, and that Eren came through Kruger and spoke to his father.

Or actually…whose memories are those?

Do you think the events that have transpired since the beginning of the Attack on Titan series were already destined to happen?

Who is Ymir talking to, 2,000 years from now?

Who would inherit Eren’s titan once he dies?

I write in my personal time and I haven't published much at all. I don't know if that qualifies me as a writer or not, but I'd like to change that. I have a deep passion for travel, cinema and (mainly) East Asian things, but I plan on writing various things to keep it spicy. Let's prosper together ~ よろしくおねがいします。
