Let’s open a pack of Kayou’s Naruto Smriti Collectible Cards for Series 1 of Heaven Scroll!
Thank you to Kayou for sending me a pack of the Naruto collectible trading card series to check out!
Kayou Naruto Heaven Scroll Series 1: Revisiting the Land of Waves
Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are shows I grew up watching, and alongside Bleach, it was one of the Anime Big Three shows I really enjoyed watching back in the day.
To be honest, I even started using Naruto Shippuden to learn Japanese in high school by watching subs, and writing the hiragana (and katakana) lyrics from the ED “Shooting Star” on index cards in my computer room each week that ED ran.
The Naruto Smriti Legacy: More Than Just Collectible Cards
The “Smriti” (Legacy) designation transforms these cards from simple collectibles into a curated retrospective of the series’ most iconic moments, specifically focusing on the emotional weight of the Land of Waves arc. By blending high-quality art with the nostalgia of Naruto’s early journey, Kayou creates a tangible way for fans to relive the foundational themes of the Big Three era.
While these cards are a nostalgic trip down the Land of Waves, they also represent a massive shift in how anime collectible trading cards, and TCGs in general are entering the North American market. I first got a glimpse of this coordinated rollout during the Kayou New York Toy Fair 2026: U.S. Launch for Naruto, Demon Slayer, and My Little Pony TCGs, where the scale of this official expansion was first unveiled to the industry.
Unboxing the Rarity: PTR vs. SSR Card Pull Rates
Naruto, tokidoki, and My Little Pony were the cards I previewed at Kayou’s NYCC booth during my chat with their GM, Sergio. With more officially licensed IP set to be released in the U.S. in 2026, I was really happy to receive a sample pack of the beautifully illustrated cards I saw in person months ago.
It’s one thing to see these cards on a shelf at Target, but it’s another to hear the vision behind their U.S. arrival directly from the source. To get the full picture of how these cards are being tailored for fans like us, take a look at The Next Big Player? An Interview with Kayou on their US Trading Card Market Expansion for the exclusive details from my chat with their GM, Sergio.
On the back of the cards is the Naruto trademarked logo centered in what appears to be Kurama’s Nine-Tails seal that was placed on Naruto’s belly as a baby by his parents in order to become the jinchuriki.
Seeing Kurama’s Nine-Tails seal on the back of every card is a bittersweet reminder of the journey we’ve taken with Naruto over the decades. For those who are still processing the emotional weight of his legacy, you might find some closure in our look back at the heavy-hitting Farewell Kurama – Boruto Episode 218 Review.
Regarding the collectible trading cards I received, I have:

- 2 R Cards that horizontally depict scenes from season one
One card features Sasuke’s one-on-one fight against Haku titled “Haku’s Secret Jutsu: Crystal Ice Mirrors 2*5” and Sasuke and Sakura getting trolled by Zabuza, titled “The Assassin of the Mist! 4*5”.

- 2 Holographic SR Cards
One is of Naruto Uzumaki waking up from a quick nap after training in a tree, and the other is the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, staring into a crystal ball with a smile after most likely watching Naruto eat ramen and spoiled milk alone in an empty apartment after promising Minato he would look after the child.
I like the textures on the two cards; it’s kind of reminiscent of fingerprints and that gives it a proper espionage feel that aligns with the series’ theme of ninja living in a hidden village.
- 2 SSR Cards
One with Sasuke Uchiha gearing up for his infamous Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu (Fireball Jutsu), and the other card is Haku using his signature jutsu during a fight. Both of these cards have spiraled holographic elements that highlight the jutsu the ninja is using, with Sasuke’s card using orange and red tones, and Haku’s is more blue-ish purple with silver tones.

- 2 PTR Cards
Gaara of the Sand village stares up at the moon at nighttime, and Naruto is reaching out to Sasuke, while Sasuke pulls his hand away from the presumed offer of friendship.
From Haku’s Ice Mirrors to Gaara’s Moonlit Stare: Card Textures Explained
The texture on the SR cards features a unique “fingerprint” pattern that provides an authentic, espionage-inspired feel perfectly aligned with the hidden village aesthetic of the shinobi world. In contrast, the SSR and PTR cards utilize sophisticated spiraled holographic elements and PET-coated finishes to make iconic moments like Sasuke’s fireball or Gaara’s quiet reflection session pop with divine, shimmering detail.

Based on the pack’s appearance probability, I seem to have gotten a slightly unique mix in pulling 2 SR and 2 SRR cards.
The English voice actor for Naruto, Maile Flanagan, had a card signing at Kayou’s NYCC booth, and here’s what that card looked like:

Final Verdict: Is Kayou Naruto Heaven Scroll Series 1 Worth It?
The Kayou Naruto Heaven Scroll Series 1 is an absolute must-have for fans who value aesthetically pleasing and nostalgic art styles alongside tactile storytelling, successfully bridging the gap between many fellow millennials’ Big Three memories and modern collectible card game quality.
As Kayou continues its massive 2026 expansion into U.S. retailers like Target and GameStop, this series serves as the perfect foundation for building your own ‘ninja way’ before even more officially licensed IPs arrive.
