Checkmate the Senate – Log Horizon S3 Ep 5 Review

This is a review for Episode 5 of Log Horizon Season 3: Destruction of the Round Table.

And with that, we wrap up the Collapse of the Round Table arc.

…

I wasn’t expecting it to be over that fast.

Or, go so smoothly for that matter.

But, I guess all’s well that ends well.

I don’t really mind so much how the election ended, although I was surprised Duke Eins and Lord Touri pulled out. Thankfully, Malves is an idiot and we got an explanation on why they did what they did – including why Eins had to take the blame publicly.

Of course, he decides to leave the city with his majesty and retreat to Lake of Nio via his big fancy boat. Which, speaking of riding on things…do Touri and Eins have a thing going on?

Because I was wondering why on earth someone would choose Eins of all people to lead a community and basically write what seemed like almost a love letter to his public character.

Then that moment on the boat where Touri’s eyes lit up…ugh. I don’t like calling him Touri – I’m going to stick with Lord Saiguu.

That feels more natural, as I don’t particularly feel close to his character.

So now, since Eins finally got the Kunie money he’d been dying for, and a charter for some land of his choosing…he’ll make good on his promises?

Instead of promising the People of the Land hope while a Naruto-esque OST played during his campaign speech.

I mean seriously – I wasn’t the only one who felt like they were listening to a baseless talk no jutsu – right?

Especially when Shiroe:

Opened the transport gates to Susukino

Got The Sage of the Mirror Lake Regan on board (despite already having a great unofficial relationship with him)

Got the Kunie clan on board by way of Kinjo (and his fangirls in the crowd)

Officially cemented Princess Rayneshia’s position on the New Round Table Conference by somewhat dismissing Krusty

Generally rallied and awed the People of the Land overall.

Speaking of Krusty – looks like we’re going to the China servers next week to see what he’s been up to! Doesn’t seem like he misses Akiba one bit from those previews, haha. ☺

He apparently even has a new woman, all the while Rayneisha is still fawning over him and trying to figure out her feelings.

What a mess.

(but, in a good way)

I like this show.

I’m glad that there were no hard feelings regarding the election, and for the most part everyone is on good terms. William re-joined the Round Table Conference, and it looks like Eins might try and make some power plays in Westelande.

The only people who came out disgruntled in this whole ordeal was Honesty, which I guess Eins just kind of…forgot about? Haha.

I mean…is he going to buy a guild building recently under control of another faction and relocate his HQ? Are his guild members going to continue to be aimless, or maybe serve as intermediaries between the People of the Land and Adventurers?

Or…did Eins really just give a speech about friendship and hope and not think any more about helping the guild he’s been whining about for a few episodes now only to just straight up leave the city and Honesty destitute and hanging?

Eh. Oh well.

If he doesn’t care, neither do I.

Anywho, Tell me your thoughts about this episode.

Absolutely top-tier horse animation in episode 5 of Log Horizon

What do you think the destruction of the roundtable plot will revolve around now that the election has been settled? Will Minami and Nakasu ever be freed from Plant Hwyaden? Are Saiguu and Eins in a secret relationship?

Leave your thoughts in the comment section below, I’d love to hear from you! Also be sure to follow us for more Log Horizon Season 3 Reviews!
