Valentine’s Day – Classroom of the Elite S3 Ep 4 Review

Hashimoto spies on Ayanokoji to aid in Nagumo’s war against everybody. Kei gives Ayanokoji a special valentine’s day present.

Hashimoto is doing his best trying to spy on Ayanokoji but I believe he’s been outplayed without even actually knowing it. Also, Kei gave Ayanokoji some chocolates for Valentine’s Day…along with several other students in Year 1.

Is Ayanokoji the cardboard cutout building a harem before our eyes?

Ayanokoji Spreads Rumors About Class C

Alrighty so unfortunately, I was spoiled in the comment sections of various YouTube videos regarding Ayanokoji’s next play – meaning I know he’s spreading the rumors about Class C. Now as for the reasoning why, I’m not completely sure.

It could be an effort to help Ichinose, despite telling Suzune privately that they should not get involved. Although, Ayanokoji seems to genuinely like Ichinose as a person (he even made her rice porridge), I feel like there is a bigger play at hand. More than likely, Ayanokoji decided to spread the rumors to somewhat frame Hashimoto and throw him off his trail.

Ayanokoji Vs Nagumo?

We finally got the reveal regarding what went down on the special trip between Ryuen, Horikita Manabu, Hashimoto, and Nagumo.

Apparently, Ryuen and Hashimoto were discussing something before Manabu showed up and Nagumo gave his psychopathic speech before politely requesting Manabu drop out of the exam. Manabu refused (of course) and Nagumo dropped the bomb that he knows Manabu and Ayanokoji have a special relationship. Which in retrospect…is not that far out of a guess.

I mean sure, Ayanokoji is kind of a loner and acts like a wooden plank 99% of the time in the classroom, but a lot of girls like him and he has genuine friendships with boys like Yukimura, Ike, and Hirata.

Also, Ayanokoji is always talking to Suzune – Manabu’s little sister – in the classroom. Yes, they sit next to each other but even outside of classroom time they can often be seen together. Then, there was the incident during the sports festival where Ayanokoji and Manabu (randomly) faced off – so it’s not like they would have no chances to possibly interact during that time.

Hashimoto also correctly deduced that Ayanokoji was the one who took Ryuen down, so given all of the above information and whatever Ayanokoji did to ‘tame’ dragon boy Ryuen – Nagumo is actually correct to deduce this relationship. The girl with the lost cell phone strap also told Ayanokoji that Nagumo is worried about him, so it all lines up perfectly.

Hashimoto just kind of sucks in his execution while fishing for information.

I mean, I’m pretty sure Ayanokoji might have noticed Hashimoto was following him and knew damn well it was Valentine’s Day and that Kei is sentimental. Like Ayanokoji mentioned to Kei, he could have called her any day to meet up but chose Valentine’s Day knowing she might have had chocolate for him?

Although, I do believe Ayanokoji’s surprise at the other chocolates he received on that day, haha ☺.

Honestly aside from that, there’s not much else to cover from this episode. I’m just excited to see whatever fallout is happening from the rumors spreading through the class. If push comes to shove, we could just blame Kushida, right? ☺

Is Hashimoto trying too hard to be Nagumo’s spy? Was the relationship of mutual respect between Manabu and Ayanokoji obvious from the start? Why does Suzune enjoy talking to a brick wall named Kushida?
